ATSW @ Gatufesten

"You may know this next song" Ulf says...

As those first few bars play, an even bigger smile breaks across my face and the faces of countless others. The crowd whistles in recognition and begins clapping to the rhythm with Ulf's lead. The smoke machine is again in overdrive as a cloud forms behind Ulf, threatening to engulf him.

All the Acers start chanting, "Ace! Ace! Ace!" and some others in the crowd chant with us too. People all around us are whipping out cell phones to record the moment.

Jenny tells everyone to join in but I think they already had that idea before she said anything.

Jenny sings and jams with Ulf for a little bit. She walks over and visits with Jonas too. The three meet up on stage and sing together for a brief moment. Then everyone meets at the back for a jam and dance session, gathering around Jakob while he plays a skillful rendition of the bridge.

It's time for a sing along with the crowd. The three of them take turns asking the audience to sing too.

It's Jonas' turn and he chooses to point the mic in our direction. We thoroughly enjoy the gesture and our thanks is shown by singing as boldy and as loudly as possible.

"One more time!!" Ulf shouts out. His energy is unstoppable. He runs the length of the stage holding out the microphone to the audience. Jonas and Jenny seem to get a kick out of his antics and the fans like it too!

The band meets at the back of the stage. The lights dim and they turn into silhouettes for a few moments. Jonas sings his portion in a husky voice. Ulf stands with his back to the crowd.

As Jonas finishes up, Jenny begins her climb to the top of her vocal range. She starts out normal then climbs higher and higher until you think she's hit the top of what she's capable of. But no, it's not over yet, she still has one more note to hit. She hits it and holds it and the crowd cheers their approval. And we cheer the most!

All of us watching are now a part of the show. We've invested in the music, in the lyrics and we've become a part of the act by singing and clapping along. It means we're all revved up and ready for the next song, so Ace of Base jumps right into it.

They pull out the crowd pleaser, the big guns, the pièce de résistance ...
